In a renewal and rehabilitation project for the Czech water company JVS, AVK VOD-KA supplied AVK Premium 100 gate valves for replacement of valve chambers.
The Czech water company Jihocesky Vodarensky Svaz (JVS) supplies water to approximately 380,000 residents across 173 urban areas. Around 16 million m³ of water is supplied annually through the distribution network of 556 km of pipes, covering an area of 6,300 km².
Four valve chambers that regularly were flooded and therefore often did not work were replaced with AVK Premium 100 gate valves and telescopic extension spindles with break zone in the key adaptor. This solution was chosen to ensure maximum quality and operational reliability, even under the most challenging conditions.
In addition to a superior epoxy coating, the Premium valves are additionally protected by a 1.5 mm PUR layer eliminating the need for external corrosion protection measures. This also significantly reduces on-site time for contractors. The guaranteed service life of the product far exceeds EU standard requirements, and an extended 25-year warranty is even offered for the Premium 100 valves. Rehabilitating the raw water intake system with AVK solutions
Nearly seven kilometres of raw water supply pipeline from the dam to the treatment plant is also renewed. A new DN1200 steel pipe is being installed parallel to the existing DN1400 pipeline, which has been in operation for 42 years since commissioning of the treatment plant. Furthermore, the project includes an 82 m DN1000 pipeline under the river, three reinforced concrete chambers and additional structures.AVK double eccentric butterfly valves are installed on the pipeline. The valves are designed with a fixated disc to prevent fluttering, extending service life and easing operation.
