Reliable solutions for aquaculture

It was great to visit Aqua Nor 2025 in Trondheim to showcase our solutions for aquaculture. Aqua Nor is the world’s largest exhibition for aquaculture technology. With more than 25,000 visitors from and 700 exhibitors from 80 countries, the event showcases the latest innovations within fish farming.

At AVK, we continuously work to design products suitable for various applications. This has, among other things, led to the development of a "fish-friendly" knife gate valve designed to handle live fish in a gentle and controlled manner. Our team of AVK representatives together with our partners from CYL KNIFE VALVES SL and InterApp were pleased to present this valve together with a wide range of solutions for aquaculture.

Case: Innovative land-based salmon farming strengthens Icelandic aquaculture

On the Westman Islands in Iceland, the company Laxey is establishing an advanced land-based salmon farming facility with a planned capacity of 32,000 tonnes of salmon annually (LWE, Live Weight Equivalent). The facility sets a new benchmark for modern aquaculture by combining cutting-edge technology with renewable energy.

At AVK Denmark, we are proud to contribute to this ambitious project through our Icelandic partner Set Pipes, who has supplied AVK valves and Fusion electrofusion fittings for the installation.

The facility operates with a hybrid water system, where 65% of the seawater is recirculated and the remainder is supplied as fresh seawater from boreholes. This ensures optimal water quality and temperature for salmon farming while significantly reducing environmental impact. Over time, six individual grow-out modules will each produce 4,500 tonnes of salmon annually, with full capacity expected to be reached by 2031. The project is anticipated to create more than 100 jobs and make a substantial contribution to the local economy.
